Easy way to get fresh lemon juice, anytime

on 11-30-2011 in Nutrition Tips

A few weeks ago I talked about having a warm lemon drink first thing in the morning to balance our internal pH. However, I have always struggled with the clumsiness of squeezing lemon wedges for juice – it’s messy, and I always end up wasting more half the lemon because I can’t use it in time.

Here is a great solution I found: juice your lemon all in one go, and freeze the fresh juice in an ice-tray!

I have here a 1.5 teaspoon full of lemon juice in each slot. Each morning I use half of a cube, melt it in warm water, and volia – fresh warm lemon drink ready to go! They also melt easily in cold water and can make for a great cold lemon drink during the day!

Another solution that I’ve read, but have not tried is to pierce a small hold in the lemon and stick a straw in it. You can keep it in the fridge and squeeze out the juice through the straw as you go. Might also worth a try!

  1. Glad to read this blog! Keep it going!

  2. Peggy, I love this trick. I start each morning with a cup of hot water w/ginger and lemon. What I do is I pre-cut pieces of lemon and ginger and put them in a container for the entire week, then in the morning just squeeze the juice and grate some ginger. YOUR method is even faster.
